Monopoly Heads to Nintendo Switch in 2017

Ubisoft has announced Monopoly for the Nintendo Switch.

The new digital game adaptation of the long-running board game will launch sometime this fall. Featured above, you can view the announcement trailer for the game.

Here’s a rundown on the game, via Ubisoft:

Ubisoft is bringing the iconic game to Nintendo’s new console for players of all ages to own it all anytime, anywhere, at home on the TV screen or on-the-go in tabletop mode. With Nintendo Switch capabilities, Monopoly fans can feel the roll of the dice with the HD Rumble feature and play with up to six players online or offline. As they progress, players can also win rewards, unlock new exclusive content and watch the city prosper in front of their eyes!

Monopoly for Nintendo Switch will offer new twists on the classic board game with additional content, more interactions and new rules.

  • Damn, first Tetris, now Monopoly–they’re really getting some mileage out of the Switch huh?

I never understood the appeal of this shitty game. Never. Fuck, you can’t even steal the bank when no one is looking in digital format.

Do people really like Monopoly? The only way I’ve ever been able to finish a game of it was by tossing out half the rules.

  • Variety is the key to a healthy console library.

  • I’ve found the opposite. The only way to have fun with Monopoly is to stick to the rules in the booklet implicitly and throw out all the house rules.

I think I would like it on the Switch to be honest. Getting people together to play in person, and then getting people to stick to the rules is tedious.
