Yesssssss! FIRST PEACH BEACH FOR PS4 AND NOW THERE IS SENRAN KAGURA FOR SWITCH!

  • InkViper

Switch is going to get all the Japanese games lol… Maybe, but this is a really good start.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

    What now?

  • InkViper

    It’s magic!

  • Mr0303

Not sure what the game will be about, but Takaki is a genius, so he can work his magic on any system.

  • Loli que Zerou NieR Automata

I think they’re keeping Yumi as the “co-mc” on the Playstation games. (I remember him saying in the Shinovi versus booklet that he associates the color red with Nintendo while blue with Sony, hence why Yumi is usually the face of the Sony games).

but yeah, glad that she’s not the focus.

  • AuraMaster DX (austin9568)

    That’s some delicious looking puddin

  • CRES

    It’s like Blast Processing.

  • CRES

I love it when Takaki is in his Lab Coat. You know he is doing some great Oppai research.

Have you seen the new gaming platform from Marvelous? The PAIZAP is revolutionary to say the least:

  • TsukuyomiMagi99

Cool! Now I have a reason to buy a Switch outside of BOTW! Takaki should change his name to Professor Von Ecchi Lewd-sama. LOL

  • Mr0303

    Well, Yumi is the best.

  • CRES

I didn’t see that one, but I have seen the Oppai Goggles. They double as a pillow.

  • patyos

    OH yess SENRAN KAGURA !!!

  • Mr0303

    Takaki can boobyfy any hardware.

  • patyos

HD Rumble is High Definition rumble, way more presice rumble that allows you to feel the pressure of what you are holding or touching in your hands instead of just the standard rumble.

I mean come on who wouldn’t want to feel grabbing Boobs or butts with the JOY CONS =D

  • TsukuyomiMagi99

I wonder if this game is gonna have the serious tone of the 3DS games.

  • patyos

Can’t wait for joy cons HD rumble for Boobs and Butt grabs make it HAPPEN !!

  • TsukuyomiMagi99

  • Mr0303

Takaki puts the Joy in the Joy Cons.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

    Yumi a overrated shit.

  • Malcolm_Ecks

Welp. I was wrong as fuck.

  • InkViper

    Yes, yes you was! lol.

  • Mr0303
  • Loli que Zerou NieR Automata

At this point, it wouldn’t surprising, I heard even Peach Beach Splash had a fairly serious (though, as always filled with comedy moments) story. this will probably have one too (maybe this is Senran Kagura 7?)

  • Fenrir007

This man is such an inspiration.

  • Fenrir007

First use of gimmicks that I approve of!

  • Gigaknight
  • Matz

I was expecting this announcement since Takaki showed some big interest in the HD rumble

  • So…. Three months and it will also be on the PC?

  • Gigaknight

Yeah. I’ll admit that I’m considering it, now.

  • Travis Touchdown

    Without HD Rumble.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever
  • Yeah just like Burst and Deep Crimson oh wait

  • Mr0303

Not a fan of her to be honest. Burning her parents to a crisp because she was pampered isn’t great in my book.

  • Mr0303

Really? Miyabi with her mummy issues? Or no-personality Asuka? Or broke Homura? Sure…

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Miyabi gets zero posts about her so chances are she’s just an edgy flatliner, Asuka’s still better than the ice queen, and don’t you fucking badmouth Homu!

  • Mr0303

So you don’t have any actual arguments. Surprise, surprise.

  • Juan Pablo Fernandez

    That’s what i call dedication. Kudos, taka-san!

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

    What have you for Yumi?

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

I’ll take whatever I can get.

  • Eldhin Hellknight

This is a real reason for me to buy a Switch… Lord Takaki will show other mortal companies how to take advantage of this console’s tecnology

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

No touchscreen to drag it down this time.

  • Mr0303

You made the claim that she is the worst of all leaders and you have to defend it and by the sounds of things you haven’t even played the Versus games, which is pretty sad in itself.

  • Anon_Amous

I knew this day would come, and so have I.

  • Anon_Amous

Neither SKBurst or SK2 are on Steam though. Just the Versus SK games. It’s not even like other 3DS games weren’t, Code of Princess is on Steam from 3DS.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

My comp burns toast. Asuka and Homura I know, Miyabi I totally forgot and the fact no one talks about her means she might at worst be edgy bland. All I’ve ever seen with Yumi is about her looks.

  • They barely used the touch screen. It was only used for quick navigating and the dress room.

  • Tokano

“It Just seems so pointless to waste your time on things you don’t like or can’t understand.”

I want to see some people read that message and understand…

  • VLOCKUP

    I can simply rumble myself for free ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • NuclearCherries

Hope it comes out on PC as well – there’s no way in hell I’m buying a Nintendo Switch.

  • if this gets a Western release, I’ll have to seriously consider buying a Nintendo Switch; given that it doesn’t get a PC and/or PS4 version of course.

  • I don’t think Yumi is overrated, but she isn’t the best either. She’s pretty high-tier though imo. A given, since Gessen is the best school.

  • Travis Touchdown

You’re going to feel up your own boobs?

    Okay…

  • Gonna play devil’s advocate here, so sit tight:

Haruka was essentially her mother’s prisoner; not a spoiled, pampered child who always got what she wanted on a whim. Yes she was pamapered a lot, but her mother treated her like a doll; not a daughter she loved, but a toy for her to dress up and have look pretty. Hence, the pampering. Meanwhile her dad, a corrupt doctor, was out having endless affairs behind his wife’s back. I can’t really blame her for wanting to get away from all that, especially from her mother. But yes, burning them and the house was a pretty extreme measure. But, Suzune (Rin) stopped her, and instead taught her puppetry. Using those skills she was taught, she made her father confess his corruption & the affairs. It was after that she left home and enrolled in Hebijo.

Does she have the worst/saddest background? Nah, not by any means.
Rin is the saving grace here as well. Who knows how it would’ve turned out if she never stepped in. But, Haruka matured and moved on past all that. She doesn’t let that past cling on to her and hold her back. However it could be argued that she likes to tease and toy with weaker people because her mother treated her like a toy. In fact, I’ll go a step further and say that I believe she is so motherly and loving to her close friends because she never got that kind of love from her own mother.

That being said, Haruka still isn’t the best. I don’t dig the whole dominatrix thing. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/386186c060c7f6d71793e76e008b669ff3fcf1fd4545058fd1bf8484e9658527.png

  • gwadahunter2222

Now I have reason to buy a Switch, I bought the 3DS for playing Senran Kagura Burst after all

  • sanic
  • Mr0303

So you are judging a character based entirely on her looks. Brilliant.

  • Zack Attack

Hopefully this is at most a Switch timed exclusive at most, but we will see.

  • Mr0303

If you don’t think that Yumi is overrated then why did you upvote No_Good_Names_Ever’s post?

  • Mr0303

Nice try, but she’s irredeemable in my eyes. Your parents having character flaws is no justification to burn them alive. It’s the behaviour of a sociopath.

“But, Haruka matured and moved on past all that. She doesn’t let that past cling on to her and hold her back.” – really? So why does she still dress like a doll with that bow if she hated it so much she was willing to murder her own parents for it?

As you said, her (arguably) being controlled as a child doesn’t give her the excuse to abuse and be controlling of others – quite the opposite.

She’s honestly my least favourite character from the series, because of her backstory.

  • Gigaknight

I don’t really like her, either–vicious in character with nearly nothing to make up for it, and a poor character design (she strikes me as trying too hard to be sexy, especially in her clothing–and failing at it).

The expression suits my opinion of your initial tweet rather well, however. :P

Regarding Yumi, I don’t even dislike her–I just hate all the attention she’s given. For that, I’ll say she’s overrated. (And she has to be, her hairstyle is boringly unattractive, too.)

  • Mr0303

Ah, I see. This is a reaction image. Just a couple of points.

“initial tweet” – it’s a post. I don’t tweet. Twatter is pretty crap.

“I just hate all the attention she’s given.” – if you don’t dislike her why is the attention she’s getting bothering you? She’s one of the team leaders, so it’s natural that she’d get featured more than other characters. Given that her team was new in the Versus games, it makes sense that the focus would be on them. In terms of game covers all that feature her, have Asuka as well, so I really don’t get the hate for her. If I had to guess it may be Homura fans salty that she’s not the one on the cover.

  • Khirt

I have to agree on this, but Nintendo hasnt ported any of the original SK for the 3DS to PC, so Im a little concerned. Like you said, the Switch isnt worth it (at least no yet).

  • MusouTensei

I have no idea what it is, is it a dating sim? Music game? Where’s the fightin’?

  • Eugenio Gil de la Madrid

So the game is just a eshop spin off? It’s not the real Senran Kagura 7?

  • Loli que Zerou NieR Automata

we don’t know that yet, but judging by the ending of Peach Beach Splash, this will probably be Senran Kagura 7

  • Loli que Zerou NieR Automata

I don’t think it was ever Nintendo’s call to port the 3DS games. My guess is that they never intended to do that because the big appeal (and reason to why SK started) was “Boobs in 3D”, since this game is “Touch boobs with your HD Rumble” I doubt it will come on pc too.

  • alterku

I’ve never seen you so wound up and talkative before. I love that waifus and boobs bring people together even when they disagree.

  • Mr0303

I am somewhat passionate about series that I like. I wouldn’t say I’m wound up, but I can be argumentative.

  • J_Joestar

Mere mortals look at the HD rumble and see just another Gimmick, Lord Takaki sees a new way to wrap the world in sheer happiness!

  • J_Joestar

or hope that they have the foresight to place in an english translation for importing since the Switch isn’t region locked.

  • I can’t deny she has sociopathic qualities/tendencies. But a true sociopath lacks any sort of conscience, which Haruka most definitely has (at least) later on. But she is a bit sociopathic, such as her promiscuity and how manipulative she can be. In fact, she even wants to claim Hibari as her own, as if Hibari were her property (sounds familiar, yeah? Like mother like daughter). What I’m mentioning here happens in Estival Versus (I know she wants Hibari for her own in previous games as well). Haruka and Yagyu both want Habari for themselves in this particular scene, but after playing as both Haruka and Yagyu, fighting each other once, you get to play as Hibari and beat sense into both of them. After that, Haruka was kind of shook up, she’s not used to not getting her way, so we do see that spoiled side come through again.

“So why does she still dress like a doll with that bow if she hated it so much she was willing to murder her own parents for it?” You got me there friendo, I never thought about that. Maybe it just stuck with her after all that happened is all I can guess.

“her (arguably) being controlled as a child doesn’t give her the excuse
to abuse and be controlling of others – quite the opposite.”
It doesn’t, and that’s certainly one of her biggest character flaws. But all decent characters have flaws, but also good sides (usually); and Haruka has that loving, motherly side of her. I don’t believe those emotions she displays towards her friends to be false or a front. She certainly loves her friends.

  • You’re forgetting I upvoted yours after his comment too friendo. I just like reading banter (and adding to it) in comments sections. Though I didn’t imagine we’d wind up doing a character study. But hey, that’s half the fun having a discussion: seeing where it goes.

  • Yeah, that too.
Hopefully Nintendo will fix all the issues it had in whatever next batch they ship out is. Because quite a few of the issues that thing has is definitely hardware-related, not just simply fixed with a software update.

  • Mr0303

That’s precisely why it doesn’t make sense. His comment says that and I quote “Yumi a overrated shit”, which you upvoted and then state that you don’t actually think that. So from your explanation here I gather that you upvoted him not because you agree with him, but rather because he challenged me and thus created “banter”. Strange reasoning, but OK I suppose.

  • “So from your explanation here I gather that you upvoted him not because
you agree with him, but rather because he challenged me and thus
    created “banter.” ”

Precisely. An upvote doesn’t always mean agreement. That’s why I a made a point to comment further down that I don’t agree.

“Strange reasoning, but OK I suppose.”

What more can I say? I enjoy banter. Whether it be internet comment sections, people in a live stream, or character dialogues (which is also one of my favorite things about the Senran games).

  • Mr0303

Everything you’ve written including the Estival Versus example shows that Haruka is a walking contradiction and had nearly no character development. Character flaws are fine to a point, but if they are too big then the character becomes unlikeable. Her loving motherly side could just be a front given how easily she experiments on her teammates. Even if we assume that this is true, if you only treat your friends like human beings and act like a monster everywhere else then you are still not a good person.

  • Kiryu

Yozakura is the best SK waifu.

  • Sigma

    HD Jiggle

  • Mr0303

    She’s pretty great.

  • Kiryu

Great taste mate.Yeah she’s great inside and out, love her.

  • Tsk, Disqus ate my long reply to you as spam again.
This seems to happen quite a bit when you and I are discussing something hahah. Were you still able to see it?

  • Mr0303

My top 3 are Yumi, Ikaruga and Hikage, but Yozakura is my second favourite from Gessen.

  • Mr0303

Yeah, I did read it. It was a good discussion. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • InkBrush

    Talk about having shit taste.

  • Mr0303

Your opinion means so much to me.

  • kenneth

    eu too

  • tccboss

Leave it to Senran kagura to get me to buy a switch.

  • Gigaknight

Excuse me–that was my mistake, one made early in the morning, after coming from Twitter. I also agree on that one part–Twitter has little to no remaining quality. I’m only still there for certain reasons.

That aside, the attention she’s getting me bothers me because it’s excessive; she gets far more spotlight time (this includes merchandise) than any other character in the cast. Currently, if any one senran is to be displayed in any form in a representative capacity–whether it’s a chibi, a chibi icon, a full image, et cetera–it’s a nearly sure bet that Yumi would be chosen. (Frankly, I was pleased but still slightly surprised to see Asuka chosen for the 5th anniversary art; it was nicely done, too.) As an example, Asuka, in EV, actually intimates that same sentiment; whether it was a subtle jab at current affairs or not, I do not know, but it reflected reality well.

Yes, she and her team debuted in the Versus games, but by no means is it a different franchise; she should not be eclipsing the face of the series (as she already has) even in the Versus games (whose timeline is now merged with that of the main series)

That being said, I invite you to visit the Senran International Academy forums and see the thread about a community letter to Takaki-sensei regarding certain criticisms of the series. You’re bound to see my criticisms of Yumi’s exposure as well as those of many others.

  • Mr0303

No worries – I figured it was an honest mistake, but I was overly pedantic due to my distaste for the platform.

“she gets far more spotlight time (this includes merchandise) than any other character in the cast.” – supply and demand is all I have to say here. If her merch sells more than the other characters, then that’s just the free market doing its thing.

As for the face of the series it’s quite arguable. In many spaces the consensus is that Katsuragi is the character that best represents the series. In Europe the special edition of Estival Versus came with a Kat/Hikage daki. This overexposure thing may be an US phenomenon, but I’m not seeing it here.

“she should not be eclipsing the face of the series (as she already has)
even in the Versus games (whose timeline is now merged with that of the
main series)” – could you explain to me how she eclipses the face of the series in those games? In Shinovi Versus her school had a single campaign same as all the other 3. In Bon Apetit she had an arcade mode like all other characters. In Estival Versus Asuka’s grandma was at the centre of the plot along with Ryoki and the Mikagura sisters, while Yumi had a short side plot, other than that she had a small side story like all the other characters.

“That being said, I invite you to visit the Senran International Academy
forums and see the thread about a community letter to Takaki-sensei
regarding certain criticisms of the series. You’re bound to see my
criticisms of Yumi’s exposure as well as those of many others.” – this is an argument from popularity and it’s a logical fallacy. If I go to NeoGAF I may read a thread complaining how badly sexualised the characters are, but without proper arguments it doesn’t really mean anything.

  • Pilebunker

Is there any other series that gains so much attention on NG? SK always seems to get the most positive reaction. Granted, I’m a fan of the series too. I though SK:PBS would disappoint me but it was surprisingly fun.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

No, I’m judging on other peoples reaction to her.

  • Mr0303

So you are blindly following the opinions of others. Even better.

  • Donwel
  • No_Good_Names_Ever

More an absence of opinion beyond looks.

  • Mr0303

“Yumi a overrated shit.” is not an absence of opinion – it is mindlessly repeating what others told you without knowing anything about the character, which is pretty sad.

  • Gigaknight

Regarding “supply and demand”, sometimes the customer is wrong–especially when said “customer” is a group of people that doesn’t make up the entire fanbase. That being said, what about people who want merch of characters *other* than Yumi? And those who want representation of SK in the form of a senran that isn’t Yumi, but perhaps *their* favorite? They are not in small number, given the fact that Yumi is just one character, and the vast majority of senrans aren’t hated, but in fact loved–if not just plain liked. For those people, should the only option be to suck it up and love Yumi? Yumi’s overexposure, in addition, isn’t a strictly US
phenomenon, as we get our merch from what’s available in Japan–almost nothing (if not
nothing at all) SK starts here. It is a result of her Japanese popularity. But, once again–and to drive the point home–she is not the only liked senran and she is not the only senran.

As far as Asuka being the face of the series is concerned, it’s not debatable–it doesn’t get to be just because Yumi’s omnipresence and vigorous promotion blurs memory. Before any of New Wave, there were Gessen and New Hebijo. Before those two, there were Hanzo and the original Hebijo 5 (now the Crimson Squad), and the latter were explicitly the villains of the series until Burst was released, and showed the story from a different perspective. Until then, Hanzo was the protagonist group, and Asuka–while not the most senior–was the de facto leader of that group. How is Asuka eclipsed? Consider the fact that the canon ending of Shinovi Versus was said to be the Crimson Squad’s ending. Time passed, and–all of a sudden–canonicity was usurped by Gessen. (I can not speak on Dekamori because I did not play it.) Regarding EV, Asuka’s grandmother was in fact a major character in the story–the guide of the events–but she isn’t Asuka, nor is she tied to her in any way other than that fact. The story was mainly centered around Ryoki, Ryona, and Ryobi. That said, Yumi and Gessen’s role in the story wasn’t as even in terms of proportion as you claim; it was greater. as she and her team were given more focus and character development time through their history with Kurokage and lingering feelings of attachment.

Finally, that invitation was just that: an invitation. Not an argument at all. lol To make that clear, I wasn’t saying, “Other people agree; see what they say, and know that I am right.” On the contrary, I just wanted you to see what people were saying about a franchise that’s meant to appeal to more than just one group of people. That being said, you’re free to determine whether their arguments are sound and true or not, I only suggested it because they’ve likely covered things I could not remember at the time.

  • Mr0303

“sometimes the customer is wrong” – no, the customer is always right. Since the products are targeting the Japanese audience and people are importing them they shouldn’t be surprised when the merch reflects the tastes of that market.

“For those people, should the only option be to suck it up and love Yumi?” – where have I said that? I’m saying that they should be buying their favourite character’s merch and ignore the Yumi one. The character getting hate because people in Japan are buying a lot of stuff with her in it is illogical.

“she is not the only liked senran and she is not the only senran.” – well, it’s a good thing that I was never arguing for the opposite.

The Gessen ending can’t be canon, since they murdered current Hebijo in it.

“nor is she tied to her in any way other than that fact.” – you are saying that Asuka’s grandmother is not tied to Asuka? What? Asuka and her circle is always in the centre of the plot. Hanzo helped raise the Gessen Girls. Sayuri organised the whole tournament thing-y in preparation for Shin. Gessen’s entire focus in Shinovi Versus was to challenge Hanzo.

“That said, Yumi and Gessen’s role in the story wasn’t as even in terms
of proportion as you claim; it was greater. as she and her team were
given more focus and character development time through their history
with Kurokage and lingering feelings of attachment.” – 1. How is this Yumi eclipsing Asuka? 2. Hanzo and Crimson squad had 2 games for themselves, so I don’t see an issue in giving Gessen and Hebijo a bit more time in Estival (and nowhere else). 3. Shall we compare Kurokage’s screen time with
Sayuri’s screen time? It would seem that Yumi’s grandfather’s role was miniscule compared to Asuka’s grandma.

“I wasn’t saying, “Other people agree; see what they say, and know that I am right.”” – apologies. I misunderstood you intention. That being said I’m not going to go browse a forum looking for a possible argument that might refute what I’m saying. It is a bit counter productive to do so.
