Playtonic Games have released the Yooka-Laylee rap song ahead of the game’s full release later this month.

Featured above, the straight-out-of-the-1990’s rap is actually the game’s £1,100,000 stretch goal (as it was funded on Kickstarter), and was composed entirely by Grant Kirkhope, the composer behind the original DK Rap. You should be pre-warned, the above rap probably falls into the “so bad it’s good” realm of lyrical composition.

Kirkhope noted on his Twitter that he is “clueless when it comes to that style of music”, so he brought in Playtonic staff to help write the lyrics you can hear above.

Some controversy surrounding the game recently came up, as they decided to remove YouTuber JonTron’s voice from a side-character, noting the decision was made due to his own “personal viewpoints.” This brought confusion and even anger from backers, as many had financially backed the game purely because JonTron was brought on, before it even launched on Kickstarter.

Yooka-Laylee is launching for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 11th, with a Nintendo Switch version coming sometime later this year.
