Seiken Densetsu 3 Teased for Nintendo Switch

The Japan-only follow up to the classic Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, may be coming to Nintendo Switch.

In a tweet from the official Seiken Densetsu twitter, a 10-second video was posted showing the game being played on a Joy-Con.

Ever since its release in 1995 on the Super Famicom, the game has never been re-released or localized in the west.

While this doesn’t confirm a western release, it would be the first time the game has been officially released in any form on a modern console.

About freaking time it got any rerelease! This is one of the best games that never got released for the SNES. We had the lame Secret of Evermore instead. It would suck if it never got localized.

How come people don’t like Secret of Evermore :( Feel like I’m one of the few that actually liked it.

  • NukeA6

I don’t like the alchemy system since it requires ingredients and they are not always plentiful especially since you need to exchange currency to get a lot of them and it’s a real pain in the ass. Even worse, you have to level them up just like in Secret of Mana!

That and the dog being pretty meh as a party member are the biggest flaws for me. I didn’t like the mazes or the fake movie references either. The game isn’t terrible but we shouldn’t have had it over Secret of Mana 2.

  • Neojames82

I don’ t know I thought it was cool that the dog changed depending on the time period of the level, that and me being a fan of time traveling and history settings.

I didn’t mind the alchemy as much, though I agree it was a pain in the ass to get some of those ingredients. I still say though it has some great visual and a great soundtrack as well. It wasn’t a bad first attempt for a western developed game trying their hand at a JRPG.

That being said, I do hope that Seiken Densetsu 3 gets a proper localization in the west because I hear it is a fantastic game.

Tip: If you pick the ninja’s as the mainline character; you’ll be able to access a temple in the desert, near the throne there will be monsters that drop the second class-changing items before you should have in the game’s story.

IMO one of the best Mana games and my favorite one.
It’s a shame it never got an official western release, it totally deserves it.

  • alterku

SD3 is the epitome of the Secret of Mana games.

  • Travis Touchdown

Never played Secret of Mana. I’m a huge fan of SNES era games, so I definitely want to try it at some point.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

Who the fuck cares? We’ve had a top notch fan-translation for decades.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    1) Secret of Evermore was a great game

    2) SD3 has been English, and even playable on real hardware/multiple emulators for decades

People acting like this is a big deal is just baffling. I hope this just a VC release in Japan only just to spite you.

  • ProfessorFluffy

It was my favorite game on the SNES. It had many unique aspects that no other game had at the time, and barely any games I’ve seen have had since. I would love to play another game just like it, but alas…

  • NukeA6

Really asshole? Did you miss the part where I said, “this is one of the best games…”? I did play the game, multiple times. Emulation isn’t even new and I probably know more of it than you do. And even if I don’t do emulation, why be butthurt about it? It doesn’t affect you at all.

You’re acting like those limp-wristed faggots I deal with because I don’t play politically correct.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    You’re a fucking stupid faggot.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

Rereleasing this on VC is no different from playing it on an Emulator. You are literally buying a ROM. Feel free to waste your money though because I don’t give a fuck.

  • NukeA6

You don’t give a fuck, so why post? Are you that desperate for attention? So much of a social reject that you need act like a keyboard warrior so you feel relevant? Come back when you act your age and off your PMS.

  • But I thought you hated gaming on PC?

  • Touma

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but I think this game is heavily overrated due to America never getting it, it’s really not that good. I mean it’s not bad, but people act like this is the holy grail of SNES RPGs.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

I doubt you’re stupid enough to think PC is the only medium for which SNES fan-translations can be experienced, but I’ll give you credit for baiting my reply.

  • PC is generally what people play emulations on. Unless they are crazy.

  • SiliconNooB

I’d just rather play the game on my SNES with an Everdrive…

  • SiliconNooB

I played the translation on real SNES hardware, as intended.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    My fuckin’ nigga.

  • Vic Rattlehead

    SOE > SOM

  • Vic Rattlehead

I like it better than SOM

  • Vic Rattlehead

Exactly. Evermore has a better and unique storyline.

  • Touma

Sorry but I disagree, Evermore was downright awful.
