Double Dragon IV Comes West for PC, PS4 in January 2017

Following the holiday surprise that Double Dragon IV is not only real, it’s coming early next year – Arc System Works has confirmed a western release for the throwback sequel.

Developed by Technos Japan, the game will launch for PlayStation 4 on January 29th and PC (via Steam) on January 30th. The game will also release on the 30th and 31st in Japan, respectively.

Most of the original staff that worked on the original arcade game, including director Yoshihisa Kishimoto, character designer Koji Ogata, programmer Kei Oyama, composer Kazunaka Yamane, and producer Takaomi Kaneko, worked on Double Dragon IV.

So Jimmy is brown+red and Billy is blonde+blue, that’s the official color scheme now I hope?

We’re getting it before Japan? Well, that’s kind of surprising.

  • Madbrainbox

As someone pointed out on a different article Japan is playing mostly mobile trash so they are quickly becoming almost irrelevant as a market.

  • Mr0303

Hopefully that won’t lead to too many Japanese devs pandering to Western sensibilities and trends.

That’s an inevitability until they convince their local market that non mobile games are still viable in their local territory.

  • Madbrainbox

I’m sure some of them will and they will pay the price for it.But as soon as they understand that people outside Japan want unaltered Japanese products the better.

Hoping we can do one-screen coop in the Steam version.

  • Madbrainbox
