River City Melee: Battle Royal Special Gets English Release on PS4 in Early 2017

H2 Interactive has announced a localized release for Downtown Rantou Koushinkyoku: Kachinuki Kakutou SP.

The game’s English name will be River City Melee: Battle Royal Special, and it will launch for PlayStation 4 sometime early next year in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Featured above, you can view the latest Japanese trailer for the game.

Regions weren’t confirmed in their press release, however the company did release River City Super Sports Challenge: All Star Special in North America and Europe – leading us to believe this game is naturally getting a proper western release as well.

I’d rather get more typical (Beat ’em up) Kunio-Kun games but more River City is a good thing, I guess.

  • The PS4 is dominating so hard that it’s getting a River City game. When you start to see niche games like this come out on a home console as of 2016, then you know that the console has a huge marketshare. They can afford to release niche games like this and most likely make a good profit. Just like how the PS1 and PS2 dominated and had loads of hidden gems. PS3 did too but nowhere near as much for obvious reasons.

Can we just get a good port of River City Ransom that’s not on the 3DS? That port is ass.
