While Creative Assembly has their hands full finishing up Halo Wars 2 and putting out post launch support for Total War: Warhammer, they’re reportedly working on a new strategy game in an entirely new time period.

The report comes via a round table interview with Total War franchise brand director Rob Bartholomew and Eurogamer, who confirmed the studio is working on a new game in “an era we haven’t tackled yet.”

This tells us the next game won’t be in ancient Rome, feudal Japan, medieval Europe, and so on.

“Did he? That’s interesting of him,” creative director Mike Simpson teased when asked to elaborate on Bartholomew’s comment. “Yes, it’s a brand new era. It’s not something we’ve done before.”

Finally, the game is currently in pre-production, so we’ll keep you guys posted. What time period would you guys like to see Creative Assembly tackle next? Three Kingdoms-era China? Ancient Egypt? Sound off in the comments below!

Creative Assembly’s latest game, Total War: Warhammer, is currently available on PC – you can read our review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).
