Final Fantasy XV Gets Online Multiplayer Expansion, New Trailer

Now that Final Fantasy XV has gone gold, Square Enix is shifting development to post-launch, downloadable content.

As the game is getting a $24.99 Season Pass, fans can expect three original episodes that take place within the main game’s story. Each episode enables players to take control of each of Noctis’ companions, with each having their own playing style.

The first of the episodes to be released is Gladiolus, followed by Ignis, and finally Prompto. Each episode can be purchased by themselves, or will come as part of the season pass.

The bigger news is that a “Comrades” expansion is being released for the game, introducing an entirely new online cooperative mode. Up to four players will be able to partake in “intense” battles, and you can take your pick between the four boys featured in the main game. You can buy the Comrades expansion separately, however it will come with the season pass as well.

Finally, a new CG trailer for the core game was released, dubbed simply “Omen.” Featured above, you can view the new CG trailer. Here’s a brief synopsis, via Square Enix:

“Noctis navigates a rapidly shifting world, endless waves of enemies, a gradual loss of abilities, and a madness that brings harm to his beloved fiancée. Inspired by the world and story of Final Fantasy XV, the trailer depicts a nightmarish ‘omen’ for Noctis’ father King Regis—a catastrophic future that must be avoided.”

Final Fantasy XV is launching for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29th.
