Microsoft has announced a massive push for virtual reality and Windows 10 – via a new partnership with various hardware manufacturers.

The company will partner with companies like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to create new head mounted displays that are Windows 10-ready. According to Microsoft, the headsets will begin shipping next year, and start at $299.

The main selling point of these devices will be they feature inside-out tracking sensors, removing the need for external cameras or sensors that provide tracking for other headsets, like the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and the Oculus Rift.

Not much else is known about the headsets, but Microsoft was keen to differentiate them from their previously announced HoloLens augmented reality headset, which they’re still working on.
