Blizzard Aggressively Shutting Down Porn of Overwatch Game

If you’ve been following recent game releases, you’ll know that the talk of the town at the moment is Blizzard’s Overwatch. This is a game so popular that when it entered open beta on May 5th, search results increased by over 800% on the porn website Pornhub.

Now, it appears that Blizzard are more than aware of this fact, and have begun to send out DMCA’s for Overwatch porn in an effort to shut it down.

To be specific, they are targeting the Source Film Maker related porn videos, as it was made apparent by Reddit user spornm in a post detailing a video of his removed, as well as a GIF made by a rival removed.

An interesting note is that the company who filed the DMCA for one of the videos goes by the name Irdeto, which could be a company Blizzard hired in order to remove all the videos.

Legally speaking, Blizzard have every right to do DMCA these SFM videos, seeing as they essentially rip the models straight from the game. Whether or not if this is the right thing for Blizzard is up for debate, as there actions could inadvertently lead to a rise in demand for Overwatch SFM porn.
