Bandai Namco Entertainment, in collaboration with Bandai and Toei Animation, have announced Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters.

The new cross-media project will kick off with a new TV anime this fall in Japan, as well as a digital card game aimed for children, a new toyline, and other products that will utilize the new IP – including “traditional” games, magazines, and more.

The new anime will be focused on smartphone apps that everyone uses in daily life. However, these applications hide autonomous creatures named appli monsters, otherwise known as appmons.

We’ll learn more about Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters at this year’s Tokyo Toy Show, which goes down on June 9th.
