Funomena (Wattam, Luna) has announced a new augmented reality game, titled simply Woorld.

The studio, which has the oversight and prowess of Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi in its studio, says the new game can be played on a handheld device – like smartphones. The new augmented reality game utilizes tech from Google’s Project Tango.

Players will be able to create digital worlds using items in game, as well as items in the real world. The studio is claiming the game is meant to be accessible and open-ended, encouraging players to just experiment and have fun. You’ll also be able to collaborate with others on the same screen.

Woorld is set for a release sometime later this year. Further details are set to be revealed at Google’s two-day I/O development conference, which begins today (and you can livestream it).
