Marvelous’ PS Vita Brawler Uppers Launches July 14

You might have remembered a while back that Marvelous announced that Uppers would be delayed until an unknown date, citing poor pre-order numbers as the main reason.

Well we’ve just learned (via Games Talk) that the upcoming PS Vita brawler has received a brand new release date, this time launching in Japan on July 14th.

This was found through Japanese retailer Rakuten’s website, who have the game listed as releasing on said date.

Uppers will be releasing exclusively for the PS Vita.

    I thought it was pretty obvious why we didn’t get Valkyries Drive.

    Didn’t it has bare titties instead of barely clothed titties? Or was that just the anime?

    I think that was juat the anime which was somehow more lewd than the game while the game is more on par to the Senra Kagura games (which is funny when you consider that the anime was made to advertise the game).

    Well it could also be the fact it’s overtly lesbian. It might be something else I’m thinking of but isn’t it that women are other women’s weapons and they activate by kissing or something?

    Not even interested in the game much tbh, but I still might buy because I want to give Marvelous a big thumbs up for giving us Estival Versus in all it’s pervy glory.

    I love these guy’s, they actually pander to their fans instead of SJW’s who had no intention of liking nor buying their games in the first place.

    Yeah, the whole gist of the game is having a female companion orgasm to turn into more powerful weapons. I guess that probably would trigger some people in the West, but it’s not like Marvelous ever gave a shit about those people since it isn’t their audience.

    It should also be mentioned that there never was a reason given for it not coming here so it could be something else.

    I always assumed the same thing. Senran Kagura is more light hearted and fun with its ecchi content. Valkyrie not only goes further with it but tonally is a bit more serious. Its a shame that it didnt come over but I at least get it.

    Did the game even do well in Japan? I feel like you can still find the game even in special edition pretty easily. Wonder if it just was a case of not meeting loftly expectations.

    While I have never been interested in Senran Kagura but this seems interesting to me. We need a brawler that doesn’t take itself seriously like Godhand and this seems to do just that going by the trailer.

    Will definitely buy if localized. And if english subbed through play-asia, then that’s fine too.

    Although not officially explained, it’s probably because of licensing issues: Funimation has the rights to Valkyrie Drive in English-speaking regions because of the anime. They likely either refused permission to XSeed to release the game, or wanted an insane amount of money for the sub-license.

    (Apparently they already did this with Ikkitousen, blocking the Senran Kagura DLC from being released over here.)

    Thankfully, since Uppers doesn’t have a tie-in anime, it’s still possible we might get an English release. Still definitely planning on picking up a Japanese copy though – the demo was pretty damn fun.
