Hitbox, an alternative streaming service to Twitch and Youtube, have just announced that starting this week, they will be upgrading all of their players from Flash to HTML5.

In addition to this, they will also make streaming available for up to 4K resolution at 60 fps. They also claim that they will be offering 360-degree and virtual reality streaming whenever that becomes available.

From their blog:

This is a fast-changing industry, and we always strive to be one step ahead with cutting-edge technology for our community. We pioneered HTML5 for our chat module which enabled users to stay better connected with chat room polls, giveaways, gifs and more. Now we’re integrating full HTML5 video across the site while still delivering the lowest live video latency available in our industry.

The new upgrade will begin to rollout on Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Safari.
