  • Uncle Slick

    Japan is freaking awesome.

  • djluke_1993

The funniest thing about this. Numerous pages on Facebook I’ve commented on have been like “Japan should be censoring the Loli/Shota Magna/doujins because of how the kids shown in it and it’s clearly paedophilia.” I’ve also told the same people that they are for censorship then and also against freedom of expression. Meanwhile having someone else tell it’s not censorship. While in my own opinion the stuff drawn is questionable and I don’t agree with it. I don’t let my personal feelings get in the way of what other people do with their lives at all and while also they aren’t hurting anyone besides the people that choose to let this affect them.

  • Ben (Broken)

It’s beautiful it’s mostly women resisting this pro-censorship push from the UN! Utterly beautiful….

  • FlameBeast

So let me get this straight. a whole bunch of women in japan rally up together to stop this censorship bs, but people in the west are allowing this shit to continue or advocating it. and also why the fuck no game devs in the west are not fighting against censorship but being little bitches and inviting anita at their game companies and bowing down to the un and sjw’s and feminist.

  • benzene

Thank you Yaoi, you are my greatest ally.

  • evilmajikman

About goddamn time they stood up!

  • Adachi

Japan is both based and unbiased

  • Darkfire249

Because they’re stupid little bitches who bow down to anyone with any form of influence out of fear?

  • Pirate_Man

Pretty much, the U.N. is biased by cherry picking certain material instead of taking the medium as a whole being complete pricks who are professional in doing jack-shit but critise every country besides the good ol united states of progression who fund their entire business, with a sock puppet U.N President which happens to be Asian. If they took the medium as a whole where boys get brutals bashed and raped as much as women in the games and anime media they wouldn’t have a leg to stand.

  • http://www.reviewersunknown.com/ Ozzie Arcane

Considering the UN proposal included a ban on using advertisements that use sex appeal, I imagine a lot of female Japanese models wouldn’t have been happy to be out of a job because of someone in another countries morality.

  • Pirate_Man

It, ok if the West does it, not the East.

  • NeoTechni

Doesn’t matter. The media will ignore them and call it a misogynistic reactionary movement, then blame gamergate

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

That’s a lot of BL fighting against BS.

  • Mr_SP

I think a lot of game devs simply don’t care about Anita. There are, however, some that do care, and are inviting her, but it’s mostly the media that’s approving of Anita. (And, honestly, I’m expecting most of the people who do invite her to proceed to change very, very little about what they do.)

Though, notably, not even Anita approves of Anita. She’s getting out of gaming as soon as she can pretend that she actually finished her Kickstarter requirements.

  • TylorW

I dunno. I think that they’d be digging their own graves if they tried going against a group primarily consisting of women in the attempt of discrediting them, because then they might attract the unwanted attention of feminists here too. I could be wrong though.

  • TsukuyomiMagi99

    Hahaha bad fucking ass!

Japanese women be like this towards SJW’S
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHvjhgjDF-s

  • FlameBeast

I was thinking the same thing too

  • tccboss

I love that this is getting more attention and showing voices of women who legit working in this industry and that these regressives are over stepping their boundaries. I felt like an icky tumbrina writing that.

  • tccboss

They’re dirty japs that have been bombed back to traditional and disgusting right wing values it is up to us superior westerners to tell them what’s right.

  • morzinbo

gamergate put my stair muffin on the wrong step. literally tried to kill me!

  • Digital punchards

The ban targets games and manga, but not the other types of media. That doesn’t sound like SJW. Something fishy is going on.

  • tccboss

    Funny huh?

  • Kiryu
  • Audie Bakerson

    日本最高!

  • Ryan

Stuff like this coming out of the UN gives me a major headache… Can’t stand people who want to limit freedom of expression… Happy Japan is opposing it.

  • TheCynicalReaper

THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT ANITA SARKEESIAN is said
excluding the “dirty Japs” part. But honestly, the “bombed back to traditional right wing values” bit is insanely prejudce from that fool

  • Darkfire249

So you support censorship and the death of free speech?

  • BurgerUnit

Yeah censoring drawings you don’t like IS still censorship and unless someone can actually *prove* it has negative effects then I’m with you; live and let live. Don’t go looking to be offended as you’d literally have to go looking to find the stuff mentioned.

  • アントナント

    >missed the sarcasm

  • Fenrir7

Fuck the UN. They’re nothing but a joke at this point.

  • Ra.

Suddenly, the sun looks brighter! :) I am feeling so elated. The depression of censorship was getting me! I salute these women. I bow to their feet!

  • tccboss

    Absolutely not, just joking.

  • Darkfire249

Sorry, hard to tell sarcasm and joking when it’s just text.

  • Neojames82

They are sadly afraid to speak out against her over her in the west because of the backlash they will get. Though I think eventually, as her power base begins to crumble (kinda already has begun) the more they are going to come out against her.

Notch has already stepped up and made his pGG status know and said he only lost one person he cared about on his Twitter. The rest of the haters have uninstalled Minecraft from their computer, which I find very hilarious because ummm, newsflash dummies, YOU ALREADY PAID FOR IT!!!

  • ThatGuy

You are. Feminists don’t give a shit about women.

  • Leandro Teixeira

It’s finally happening. Japan is rising up and fighting back!

  • Leandro Teixeira

“We do acknowledge that manga depicting sexual violence cause great
discomfort to some people. However, the decision to outright prohibit
the distribution of a particular kind of speech should never be based
solely on people’s feelings of discomfort, or their moral judgments.” “It should be noted that some of these works show sexual violence against
men. However, sexual violence is not a problem that is limited to
women, and should not be associated solely with women’s rights.” Now this will will piss off the SJWs

  • Kiryu

She is a fucking racist so it”s no wonder she said that.

  • Adachi

No offense, but you gotta work on your sarcasm bro, I nearly thumbed you down

  • Zanard Bell

CTRL + F, typed “Rumiko Takahashi”, found none. Sad.

Come on, I’ll die a happy man to know she’ll support this initiative.

  • Madbrainbox

White/male guilt. That’s all there is to it.

  • Jake_Was_Here

They have four words for women like that: “Internalized misogyny. Fuck ’em.”

  • Madbrainbox

They go for the things that are the most popular. That’s an idiotic move on their part.If I was in their shoes I’d start with the small things where there’s little to no opposition and make my way up.

  • Ubrokemygrill?

The west is full of insecurity.

  • scemar

Japan understands what’s going on, the united nations is acting for the sake of feminist politics, not really with the best interests of society.
Women in the industry don’t benefit from censorship.
And censorship does not benefit or help any real woman that needs help.

So no thanks UN, you can take the censorship back.

  • scemar

The west is where the core of feminism is.
The west is where t his particular kind of censorship is happening.
    Gee I wonder why.

  • Ubrokemygrill?

    Cue the Internalized Misogyny rhetoric.

  • RedTape

Good for Japan, enough is enough with this bullshit censorship.

  • Maciej Bącal

  • scemar

Violence against men, you mean that’s wrong?

  • Ubrokemygrill?

No, it’s just funny when it happens to a man.

  • Aud1o

Yeah, but traditional values in Japan aren’t that. Tokugawa Bakufu society had technology; medicine; and culture comparable to the white man. It was just tossed out when opening the country let the rest of their oligarchy wrest control away.
Modern or middle Japan’s patriarchy started two millennia ago, with the purge following the death of queen Himiko.

  • Zero Beat

    Dear Japan,
    I love you.

  • Mr0303

Most of these women work in the creative industry, so they are essentially defending their livelihood. Maybe at some point the UN feminists will realize that they are actually attacking real women. Or not.

  • Pepperkeet

They know Yaoi is next so they’re protecting their own interests.

  • Pepperkeet

Because we’re more “enlightened” than those savage japs!
This is what Western Feminists think but lack the balls to actually say.

  • http://varms.net Gillman

    Clearly fujoshi have spoken

  • Meteor

    get rekt UN

  • Richard Miller

    Take that feminism!

  • Etherblaze

    “Manga researcher” is a job.

    I wanna move to Japan.

  • Captain Vidya

Bless you, Japan. Don’t you dare take this shit lying down.

  • Sebastian Mikulec

The good news here, besides Japan standing up for itself, is that the UN is a completely inept organization that wields virtually no power.

  • Gloria Augusta

It’s fairly harder than it sounds. It’s investigating every single motive why a manga was as succesful as it was. Why having 2 nearly identical mangas one is a success while the other is a failuer. What economic, cultural, plot, character, artwork, pacing, etc etc factor is what made that one manga be so popular.

And while you may enjoy reading manga for the sake of reading manga, evaluating all those variables in real time analizing hundreds of works is everything but relaxing or fun.

  • NeoTechni

They’ve done it before, to notyourshield. Anita just flat out ignores her female critics and pretends they don’t exist.

  • Pauly-kun

Good for them, albeit I am personally still neutral.

  • Carl619

UN is acting in the name of political correctness, nothing good can come from that. You’ll be surprised that there are people, people who likes manganime, who thinks that this can benefit manga because mangakas would think harder and make better stories. Of course violence doesn’t matter.

From that point, they think censorship will make better stories AND western people will buy more because there are no lolis or big tits women.

  • SuaveVillain™

    Props to all of them.

  • Feniks

Don’t attack people’s cultural pride UN it always ends badly.

I remember when the French complained about my country’s softdrugs policy. Everyone circled the wagons.

  • Feniks

Ha yeah but you are a reasonable person adept at critical thinking. SJWs are just a bunch of hivemind fanatics.

  • spider man

THE SJW FEAR THE FEMALE SAMURAI

  • Captain Vidya

You don’t understand, though. It’s not about your personal feelings, it’s about the feelings of others who are not you that they SHOULD be having according to what you think of them.

  • Yabloko Molloco San

    That’s a lot of yaoi!

  • 萌えゲー

    BL大好き~♡

  • djluke_1993

Ah yes I forgot. Letting people decide what to do with their lives and not changing ones culture and how they feel to suit anothers agenda. Thank you for stating the obvious Capitan sir.

  • djluke_1993

Yeah most that I have talked to have been pretty idiotic about it. I’ve had someone straight up delete their comments on Facebook from what I’ve said and given me the I can’t put up with this shit or I’ve had to put up with shit all week excuse and this doesn’t help.

  • Brimfyre

“But…but.. I thought if I said these things, women would start to pay attention to me.” – Typical SJW

  • 萌えゲー

True, but Kaworu Watashiya and Hirotaka Akagi say hello~♡

  • Azure

Japan cares about their craft and further improvement. The west only care about raking in as much money as possible or you will get blacklisted for heresy (Freedom of Speech ftw).

  • アントナント

France has a history of pissing off literally everyone but still being huge stuck-up faggots because ‘hon hon we have powerful friends mon ami’

  • PixelBuff

    Take notes, North America.

  • Leandro Teixeira

No no, because men aren’t human beings too, they are different, they are animals so violence against them is something that doesn’t exist whatsoever

  • Derek

If they want to butt heads with the press that iron lady of feminism controls they can gladly do it. But don’t be upset when the dev who does it winds up seeing critical reviews being widely negative about their games, the devs losing the their jobs and forever discredited as a game developer just because the journalists are looking for good sjw points to redeem for their organic soy chicken tendies.

Remember that Polygon and IGN have given bad reviews for games with the kind of shit that Japan pumps out on a daily basis.

  • Boku

Cultural appropriation? Bad. Don’t try to take some other cultures things. Never share; it’s theirs.
Cultural imperialism? Good. Do what we want you to do. What you do is wrong and immoral.

Leave it to Japan, of all places, to utter the phrase “fictional women aren’t real women”.

  • Jake Martinez

People are kind of overblowing this. It’s the U.N. and they pass stupid resolutions all the time. Hell, I think it might be their primary purpose.

It’s completely non-binding and no one is ever in even the most minuscule danger of losing their job.

Basically all this is, is a pissing match between some stupid U.N. activists and some Japanese artists. Personally I side with the artists on this one as I believe freedom of expression is more of a concern than whatever “harm” some fictional character might suffer, but at the end of the day I can’t force myself to pretend that this U.N. “proposal” means anything, it’s literally not worth the paper it’s printed on.

  • djluke_1993

Didn’t Japan actually cancel their women studies or something like that in universities because they found it to be useless.

  • http://www.plurk.com/Nonscpo Nonscpo

    Bravo!

  • Ophel

They have more balls than most of their counterparts in the west.Men included.Save a few exceptions. Also i think a lot of game devs in the west have sjws of their own. Some even in positions of power. And not just game devs. The sjw sickness has spread everywhere. In comic books,tv,movies, etc.

That why this kind of response from this artists from Japan is fantastic.

  • Mizahnyx

That part is sort of unverified. It was only 1 source about that. So I would take it with a grain of salt. But she saying that Japan shouldn’t “export sexism” is verified and official. Trust, but verify. #GamerGate

  • Go D. Usopp

These internalised misogynerds dare oppose the feminist collective??? Clearly not womaning right, free choice is oppressive to your sisters. Conform to the collective will because thats totally not oppressive at all

  • TheCynicalReaper

Even if there’s only one source, if she doesn’t decry or deny the claim then she is tantamount to accepting it’s truth.

That’s how it works, at least for her. She has to play by her own rules, ergo: unless she outright denies it and conveys hatred of such a prejudice comment, she’s a racist.

  • Guin

Figures how France and the US share so many similarities with one another. The Brits to a somewhat lesser extent.

  • Guin

That was probably the mentality Games Journalists had before they got “burnt out.”

  • grgspunk

Needs more politicians. You know, people with REAL political power.

It’s nice that there are plenty of manga artists that don’t support the UN’s claims, but if these sentiments aren’t relflected by the people in the Japanese government, then it wouldn’t matter what these guys think.

If manga artists alone were enough of an opposition, then shit like the Rapelay incident of 2009 would’ve never happened.

  • Daryl Corey

    like a scary ammount

  • Daryl Corey

Well this manner of response was a foregone conclusion. Japan gives even less of a shit about what the UN says than even The US . Their constant research into the tastyness of whale meat is strong evidence of this attitude already

  • Kev Lew

decent list. Here’s hoping for some meaningful pushback from people actually making a living from art rather than from people raising pointless laws to crush art to make victim bucks online (or pressure international markets).

  • Guin

She’s too busy swimming in Ranma and Inuyasha money.

  • Chino Gambino

The statement is perfect, it cuts right though the bullshit newspeak language of western moral panic and delivers two logically unassailable objections. I can’t help but think this is how western liberals would speak if they were not shackled to intellectually bankrupt concepts coming out of academia. I feel like we’ve developed a jargon laden language capable of arguing anything and the Japanese have been spared out stupidity by the language barrier. The sky appearing blue is western colonial construct, freedom of thought is oppression and glaciers are sexist; post-modernism and feminist epistemology have every absurdity covered.

  • Guin

Now waiting to hear what from the apologetic Westaboo cucks.

  • Chino Gambino

Its not a quote, its the recounting of a talk Anita gave by a person who attended a conference. Its a second hand paraphrase, not to say it wasn’t said but we can’t treat it as a quote nor should we need to. Anita has said dumber more racist things than that over her career.

  • Guin

2channers having political power? That’s news to me.

  • Guin

BL artists are now misogynerds? Wow, just wow.

Norway I think did that.. A comedian did a documentary and found gender studies to be a complete waste of time and resources causing the Government to stop funding towards the study.

  • Zombie_Barioth

Its almost like they thought GG was trying to take their games away or something.;)

  • Neojames82

No, perish the thought!!! They are trying to take them away!!! They are just making sure that A. They never get released outside of Japan or B. Edited and censored to make people that wouldn’t even bought the game happy!!!

  • Zombie_Barioth

Gotta love how GG got flack for boycotting anything to do with sjws, yet the anti-GG were quick to try (and fail) at the same thing.

I thought they just wanted to create an open a discussion.;)

  • Alùcard Impàlèr
  • Alistair

I found it quite ironic & feel glad that A. Antia & Zoe did went to the UN for banned the Internet & Failed & B. That the UN decision to attack Japanese manga & games while Western Devs still carry out sexual violence against women fictional characters.

This whole farce has open up for everyone to see a riff a split down the middle western Devs & localised teams & western media stay silent. So making Japanese artists feel alone.

Shows a double standards hypocrisy of SJWs media outlets & SJWs western Dev like Wuu.

So it all coming out in the open that we All already know what been going on for years. & the UN like a joke bring it out.

So yeah I glad this come out hopefully western localised team & western media take note we on to you every time they bitch about our video games being problematic & need to be censored or banned think of the UN & SJWs are stupid idiots & called them out.

I wonder how much cream they put on that burn the other week.

  • Alistair

What you mean about the Brits be Lesser extent.

We not shy about sexual content in our media & it’s a myth saying we do.

We made sex comedy films even a PG rated film carry on can have full nudity.

So we lenient when it comes to sex as for child porn it’s true we tough on that but it for real life child abuse imagines. Echhi imagines likes senran & others doesn’t cover it.

And until otherwise it not illegal for anyone in the UK to buy a H-game or import a uncensored ecchi game from eslewhere even if PEGI did ban a game it still be legal to but import.

The USA are alright with violence but feels akward about sexual games we are feel akward with violence in games.

  • Guin

Hence the emphasis on lesser extent. You’re not AS prudish as yanks, but compared to the majority of EU, your people have a long way to go.

  • Alistair

I don’t follow your people have a long way to go we feel akward about violence but never shun them in fact as well as prudish with sexual content we grow up with the era of video nasties quite violence video nasties that bought about the video recording act AKA BBFC.

1 country in EU have issue come to mind with questionable content is Germany the USK rating board they not lenient when it comes to violence & sexual things Sony did say that they can’t put up Demos that have PEGI 18 on then & cartain plus games are diffrence to the rest of EU.

Plus I think there no place a country that have lenient laws when it comes to child porn even Japanese standards they tough on it not meaning manga but the law in place.

Anyway I’m getting of course UK & USA we the same USA are also prudish. Can’t be said for SJWs their not prudish.

  • Guin

When it comes to countries like Spain or Italy though (which a lot of really seedy stuff like CP originates.), the UK is rather restrictive when it comes to sexual content.

I’m not trying to put the UK on the level of America. Far from it, but I would like to say that Anglo countries (US, UK, Australia, Canada) seem to have varying degrees on how they’re touching the subject of sex.

  • Alistair

The only restrictions is link to child porn when it comes anything esle is more lenient not saying we get hardcore imagines on the BBC or ITV but we do have sex shops & the rating boards BBFC Pass that uncut a 18 & it coded blue.

But anything in the mainstream movies have have sex in it gets the go ahead. The same content the USA gets.

Our lenient of sex is like blue adult mag on the top self of a newsagents our saucy seaside postcards. lol ☺️

And here some SJWs picks on video games.

Edit: that doesn’t make sense when I say coded blue I not saying blue movies “softcore” I saying a 18 in a blue circle. In fact it square shape.

  • kalil6

how to spot someone who loves their jobs and not just one quick cash or attention
