  • Master Bating

Great, too bad I most if the series will be Japan only due to licensing issues.

  • bgrunge

They could (and should) do updated international releases of Super Robot Wars Original Generations- the PS2 remake of OG 1 and 2 as well as the sequel looked amazing, and every character in there is their property.

  • Master Bating

Doesnt OGs contain some licensed characters thought?

  • bgrunge

Not at all, I believe. The “original” in the name comes from the fact that the IP is all original, and as such the original GBA releases did get brought over. Unfortunately, they got overlooked at the time so they didn’t bring the PS2 remade compilation over.

  • Master Bating

    Damn, you’re right.

I really wish this franchise sold in west, Its really enjoyable.

  • bgrunge

Here’s a Let’s Play of it, just so you know what you’re missing:

If I’m not mistaken, the SRW OG that was for the PS3 DID have OG 1 and 2 packed in as well. Hopefully if this sells, it will convince them to translate the rest of the series too. Hopefully. :)

  • bgrunge

Yeah, I don’t import much, but I’ll be importing this. Ideally they should just do a translation and put them on Steam- that would be the easiest and least financially risky way to cash in.

  • Master Bating

    T-thanks

Guess Ill cry to sleep and pretend Im not too lazy to learn katakana.

  • TheMaverickGamer

This is outstanding news. I will gladly import this if only to show Bandai-Namco that there is an audience over here that still wants these, even if it’s just the OG series. Heck, maybe they’ll pull what they did with Gundam Extreme Vs Force and announce a US release before it launches in Japan.

  • bdp

Well if Bamco doesn’t bring this out locally i guess i’ll have to save up for a ps4 and import.

  • bgrunge

if you’re really interested, downloading the GBA games and an emulator might help. They were fun as hell- the mechs were customizable, but so were the pilots, and there were quite a few hidden characters/mechs to unlock. They’re just not gonna look nearly as awesome as the PS2 version.

  • bgrunge

Also Kyosuke- Excellen’s constant harassment of him was hilarious. Not to mention there is nothing more brutal than doing his last combo attack- the whole pile bunker + claymore detonation at point blank range still makes me wince.

  • Master Bating

I beat OG with both of the groups not so long ago, Im slowly progressing on OG2.

No idea there were hidden mechs, are they unlockable after certain challenge objective is met?

Because I fucked most of those up since I barely knee what I was doing and ended up with awful builds.

  • bgrunge

Yeah, I can’t recall them all but I do remember that you can unlock a Huckebein with some OP prototype gravity cannon.

  • Master Bating

I hope the innuendo isnt lacking.

  • Master Bating

Thanks, I can cry myself to sleep now.

  • Dom Fass

    Yes yes all my yes!!!

  • Dom Fass

I want the lady mech from super robot tiasen 2 to be in it too! Damn OP AOE weapons

  • Daryl Corey

Hell yes welcome to my import list your glorious game

  • ironexe

Looks like I just found my first imported game.

  • deadeye

    I FUCKING LOVE SRW.

NOW I GET TO UNDERSTAND THE STORY.

Time to replay every SRW in celebration.

  • Dawn Blast

…There is a god. And He is Loving. And Just.

  • dsadsada

I’m happy. My friend who’s an even bigger SRW fan and who got me interested in the series exploded.

  • Tyrannikos

    And that’s an instant import.

  • Stephen Hall

You know, I wonder if the Japanese are starting to get wise to the political and economic situation here in the West, and decided that they are going to cut out the middle man. After all, why pay some publishing company x amount of money to publish a game that would likely get trashed by the sjw-infested media, when they can just add an English translation and “mark” it for sell in southeastern Asia where English is a first and second language?
I have seen a number of Japanese titles that seem to be going this route, and if this is a planned shift by the industry, I hope it takes off.

  • dsadsada

I had thought that the previous instances of this practice like SAO and Moe Chronicle were just outliers. Considering the things surround DOAX3 and the fact that something this niche is now getting a translation makes me wonder if it is a starting trend.

Well hell, I live in the area so of course this will only be great for me. I’m hoping this practice takes off as well.

  • Whito Dev

This sucks for me, since there’s a lot of impediments to import things to my country right now. Will it get a digital release too?

  • Anon630

No ideological cancer in the localization process?
    Sign me the fuck up!

  • Voiced

Welp, like i said on the forums this will be an instant preorder for me. Will import as soon as Play Asia has it up.

  • Bumbayker

Thankfully I live in Asia and my local retailer will have it. No shipping and customs charge.

  • Day 1 buy, right here.
