Introducing New Homebrew Genesis Game, Dragon’s Castle

Made by one man (going by the name “sik”), a new homebrew Sega Genesis platformer, called Dragon’s Castle, is currently in the early stages of development. Using large sprites and starring an adorable little witch whacking supernatural enemies with her broom, there is certainly a heavy Wonderboy vibe going on. The name itself may be inspired by it as well, since it looks similar to Wonderboy 3: The Dragon’s Trap, which went by the name “Dragon’s Curse” on the Turbo-grafx 16.

Though there are only two levels in the current build, a thread (currently down, it seems) on SpritesMind has more info, including a downloadable demo of what the designer has completed so far.

It looks good. So far I’m getting that nostalgic feel of Genesis era games already. The platforming looks like there’s not a lot of work ahead of him. Just areas that are still unfinished. It’s a good start. Hope to see it 6 months from now.
