A New Wyvern is Confirmed for Monster Hunter X – Meet the Raizex

Despite Monster Hunter X adding so many new monsters to the mix, it’s still a thrill to get to see the new creatures explained before you get the chance to hunt them. The most recent addition to the list is the Raizex, a new Flying Wyvern that uses electricity to hunt it’s prey.

Said to be brutally violent, the Raizex’s form borrows from the Rathalos and Rathian in shape, while moving in a way similar to the Tigrex and Nargacuga. And, of course, it appears to have the spikey design typical of a lightning based monster.

The beast is extremely territorial and will ruthlessly hunt down anything that invades it’s space. Because it can generate electricity in its body, it is called the “Thunder Wyvern”, and will even use this ability to charge its body to increase it’s attack’s potency as well as range. Some of it’s signature attacks have been shared with us so we can prepare.

It can use it’s charging ability to add lightning to it’s crest, allowing it use the protrusion like a blade to cut down enemy hunters.

It’s also capable of using it’s claws to shred hunters apart.

As most wyverns, it has a deadly breath attack that generates two powerful lightning bolts.

And what wyvern would be complete without a good tail sweep? Even worse, though, when it’s charged, the sweep will have more range and even discharge a blast of electricity.

And that’s not all of the news, either. The same issue of Famitsu that this new info was released in also confirmed the return of the Lagiacrus, Blanginga and the Shogun Ceanataur.

Also introduced were the new Nyancook who heads the newest rendition of the Felyne Bistro, and Fenny, who will replace Poogie as the new pet which you can dress up and cuddle with.

Monster Hunter X is set for a November 28th release in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS.
