mugen souls 09-17-15-1

Ghostlight Interactive has announced they’re porting Mugen Souls, a Compile Heart-developed RPG, to PC.

The will be ported to Steam sometime in Q4 of this year. Mugen Souls originally launched for the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

You can get a refresher below, via Ghostlight:

About

There exists a small galaxy in the universe containing seven worlds, shimmering in seven colours… These worlds exist and act independently of one another. This has allowed them to develop and nurture rich, unique cultures. Then one day, a decree was issued… “I’m gonna make everything in each of these worlds bow to me!” – The Undisputed Goddess, Chou-Chou!

Features

Mugen Souls features a free-roaming battle map, turn-based combat, and massive amounts of customization and growth to maximize the fun players can have within the game.

  • Expansive worlds to explore: Travel freely on each world to explore and find treasures and items. Monsters are roaming the lands, so be cautious or fight them head-on and make them your subservient peons!
  • Free-roaming style battle maps: Use Combo attacks to execute spectacular moves with your allies! Destroy Crystals on the battlefield to activate Hyper mode!
  • Moe Kill: Execute the Moe Kill technique to enslave enemies and turn them into items by exploiting their weaknesses!
  • Customization: Create a full cast of characters! Customizable body parts, facial expressions, and job classes!
  • Duel in Dual Audio: Experience the game in either Japanese or English audio.

The PC version will feature mouse/keyboard and gamepad support and will also include Steam achievements as well as take advantage of the higher resolutions that PCs can offer. Along with a number of other user interface changes and major graphical enhancements, Ghostlight are aiming to ensure that PC gamers receive the best gaming experience possible!

omg yes Mugen Souls i always wanted to play it XD !!!

now to wait for an exact release date

  • Misogynerd

Hope they find a way to remove the censorship, if it’s still there.

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

    Who asked for this?

  • http://agar.io/ Nazurin

Finally I can play this without being seen buying it in public.

  • Narmy

Ghostlight are the ones who needlessly censored the European PS3 version of Agarest 2 (which carried over to the international PC version). It’s more likely that they’ll add more censorship rather than remove it.

  • Nagato

Ah yes, the PS3 exclusive Souls game everyone was waiting for…

  • Bianca Ann Saracino

I’m not a PC gamer but i’d be willing to buy it if this wasn’t just a port of the censored ps3 version but I doubt it.

    So more censoring?

  • JustaGuest

They could have announced publishing Superman 64 on steam and I would have been more excited.

  • djluke_1993

Oh it’s being published by Nis America’s Twin…

  • OverlordZetta

Seems like a weird choice. Personally, the removed/censored minigame looked tedious and annoying more than anything, so it wouldn’t affect me personally not being there (not to say I support it not being there or not, just that I can live), but even then… This really just seems like a weird choice.

Given the content that was removed, most people will already take issue with it, and then given that it’s going on three years old and didn’t seem to have a super positive reception as is, who are they hoping to hit with this? People who buy off Steam sales alone, maybe?

I mean, if they’re going into this thinking they’re building a more positive reputation with the PC crowd based on however well the Neptunia and FFF ports are doing, this actually might hurt that if anything.

Like I admit I never played this so I have no idea, but I legitimately just don’t see the logic in choosing this over all the other games that they still haven’t put on PC.

Where’s that image macro….ah! Here it is.

For the lazy; this is a list of different games NISA fucked up when localizing them. Mugen Souls/Mugen Souls Z is on here. For good reason…

    – Scrubbing mini game removed
    – over 120 CGs removed
    – new bugs/glitches that weren’t in the original JP release
    – massive lag during regular battles
    – area load after a battle can fail, forcing you to start again from your last save.

Guys, don’t support this bullshit. NISA needs to either step up and quit shitting over localization or they need to GTFO all together. And odds are, they aren’t gonna uncensor it for Steam anyway. Sure, the Steam release could see these bugs getting fixed, but I’m rather skeptical.

And of course, Ghostlight is the one actually bringing this to Steam. And they’ve got their own history with censoring shit as well, such as with Agarest 2. So if anything, this Steam version will possibly be even MORE censored than the PS3 version was.

  • OverlordZetta

Considering this is a different company doing it (not even IFI), is it likely to assume it’s also possibly just going to be a straight port of the PS3 version since it’s already got the most problematic stuff censored (meaning all the bugs included)?

I mean at least IFI took NISA’s FFF (which I actually thought was a very solid release – arguably better than some of their own recent Neptunias in terms of translation, even) and enhanced it for PC.

  • Misogynerd

Well then it’s up to the modders to give us the original version.

  • https://twitter.com/solidsalamander SolidSalamander

That’s true. I haven’t played FFF, but I heard it got out of NISA fairly unscathed in terms of translation. From what I’ve heard, Neptunia Rebirth 1 wasn’t too bad, but that 2 and 3 were all kinds of fucked up in the NISA translations.

And if they hadn’t confirmed that they’d enhance the graphics for PC, I’d have every suspicion of it being a straight PS3 port (like Toukiden Kiwami was, but that’s a separate matter). I wouldn’t hold my breath on this being an uncensored port though, which is a shame, because the game always looked pretty fun. But unless there was/is going to be some Asia-Region release with English subs that could simply be imported, there’s no way I’m playing it, let alone buying it from NISA.

  • grgspunk

This is actually good news. We can mod the shit out of the game and restore the censored content back.

  • Narmy

Modders haven’t been able to fix Agarest 2, and that was just one character cut from the minigame. Mugen Souls has the entire minigame cut from the game.

  • Audie Bakerson

I literally don’t think a single person asked for this.

  • Misogynerd

Oh, then that’s a shame. Maybe if they release a JP version with all the original content that might do the trick.

  • Eponyan

Apparently someone talked with Ghostlight_Ross about it and he said it wasn’t set to stone, so if enough people pressured them they might actually consider reverting censorship done by NIS America.

  • Yabloko Molloco San

Why don’t they get a hint and stop doing things that anger their consumerbase?

  • Rafa

They said this afternoon it was the same PS3 European version, but if there’s a chance to get it uncensored I hope they do it.

  • Eponyan

Well have you told them on twitter or their blog though? Or the steam forums?

  • Booz

Uh, good luck to them I guess.
It’s a very niche game, not many people asked for it, it doesn’t have a killer franchise or fnadom backing it or the always helpful fanservice to boost sales, instead they’ll have the huge stigma of the censorship and localization of this game was so badly received and rightfully so that it has a muddy reputation already.

I’ll never complain about more PC ports, those are always good.
But I do wonder if this will make any profits and hope they keep porting more games in the future even if this one bombs.

  • LostGryphon

I make a point of not buying censored titles if I can help it, as a matter of principle.

So, unfortunately, even though I’m genuinely interested in the game, I won’t be picking it up. Really wish these companies would just stop sticking their proverbial dicks in the pudding.

  • Siveon

I mean, c’mon. The game looks like crap – even by Compile standards.

  • Raziel Barkrai

    Isn’t this game kinda bad?

  • Booz

if they made a straight up new port and restored all the missing content of the PS3 version it would be worth it even for non PC fans to play

    we can dream right?

  • dsadsada

Unfortunately that only works if there actually are people willing to mod it back in. Agarest 2 is just missing one character in its minigame and nobody has modded her back in.

  • Fenrir007

If it’s censored crap, I don’t even wanna see it in a 90% off promo.

  • Thanatos2k

But the game itself sucks, like most(all) of Compile Heart’s games.

  • Thanatos2k

You better also mod it so much the game suddenly becomes good.

  • Eldhin Hellknight

it MUST be uncensored but considering that they thought that release the stupid censored version Agarest 2, i don’t really have any hope with this one

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/rayxtr Rayxtr

Hahaha Ghostlight… Nope. Again a censored game and probably no mention of it on their store page. It was the same with Agarest 2 were they ignored this for a long time.

  • https://twitter.com/solidsalamander SolidSalamander

Mother of God, there’s a chance?! If we can get enough people to tweet pr email at Ghostlight Ross/Ghostlight in general, we can save this game….

  • CoolingGibbon

Why aren’t you a PC gamer yet? I suggest, nay demand you discard your silly Sony toys and embrace the best gaming platform asap!
