“Yuritopia” Game Kindred Spirits to Arrive on Steam Completely Uncensored

It seems like a golden age is upon us, if a new announcement from Manga Gamer is anything to go by.

We first reported on their localizing Kindred Spirits on the Roof, a yuri-focused visual novel with lots of erotic elements, something the publisher is calling a “yuritopia” of an experience. Now, we’ve learned the game is coming to Steam completely uncensored.

Manga Gamer confirmed the news over on their official blog, saying the game will be completely uncut when it ships on Valve’s Steam platform.

“We have some exciting news to share tonight,” Manga Gamer said on their blog. “We’ve been given approval to publish Kindred Spirits on the Roof on Steam without any cuts or censorship!”

“This is monumental news for the industry as a whole. Everything will be open and up-front with this release; no off-site patch or workarounds. Kindred Spirits will be sold on Steam completely uncensored,” said Kouryuu, Manga Gamer’s head translator. “Seeing frank depictions of same-sex relationships welcomed on such a major gaming platform is a true testament to the open-mindedness of our society and the growing desire for mature entertainment that people of all walks of life can enjoy.”

As a website that is one hundred percent against censorship of any kind, if this comes to fruition it will truly be a new milestone for all of us, as a collective video games industry.

    I wonder if the lack of censorship is because of the form of sex depicted here; as in plain nudity and even masturbation can be deemed acceptable enough for a game, but full man-on-woman sex with the details you’d expect in a VN isn’t.

    Well I would assume that it is more tame than some hardcore NTR stuff or think Starless. I think it is def. the right way to go in with something lighter…and if it will be 100% uncut that is a step forward and victory in itself.

    Seems odd that this didn’t occur sooner as we have several mainstream games with uncensored sex within them. For example Witcher games are loaded with nudity and sex.
