Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is Getting a New Character and Stage in Spring 2016

Koei Tecmo has confirmed (via Games Talk) some new content for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, during their Dead or Alive Festival livestream.

The game will be getting a new stage, “Fireworks,” alongside the “Lovely Summer Costume 2015″ costume pack, and finally a re-balancing for the game, in version 1.04. Followed by this, in the spring of next year, a “major update” is coming, adding both a new character, as well as a new stage.

Lastly, the game is getting a multitude of collaborative costumes, via downloadable content. There will be costumes based off Falcom-developed games, like The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki and Trails in the Sky (in September), Square Enix’s Schoolgirl Strikers (in November), and Tatsunoko Production-based costumes in spring of 2016. There’s also yet another Halloween costume DLC pack coming in October.

I hate to sound rude, but would anyone really care by Spring 2016? I’m not an expert on the fighting genre, but that seems pretty late for DLC.

Not like they’ve announced DOA6 in any way, shape or form.

    Not that you’re not wrong.

  • Jack Ripper

So much for being Last Round. More PAID DLC to look for.

At this point, I’m sure DOA has the most expensive console DLCs with their exorbitant marketing. And the next DOA will take another 7 years before it gets announced since the cash flow doesn’t seem to be stopping for them any time soon.

My stance on DLC is that cosmetics are fair game for paid DLC, as they’re not integral to the game. If you don’t buy the DLC in, say, Mario Kart 8, you’re gonna be missing out quite a bit of gameplay content. Whereas with cosmetics, you’re not missing out on anything. The game stays the same.

But DoA5 has stretched my limits, I think. If the game was free to play, and had a model similar to Dota2, where everything important to the game is free, and you buy (reasonably priced) cosmetics, I’d be fine with that. Considering the sheer amount of costumes, I don’t think it would be reasonable to say it should all be free. People should be payed for their work and all.

Also, if you want to see some egregious DLC, check out Train Simulator 2015, where if you’re the kind of person that wants all the DLC, get ready to spend just a hair under $5,000. And that’s actual game content. Not cosmetics.

Meanwhile the multiplayer for the Steam version still hasn’t been properly implemented (they half-assed a beta, ran into a lot of bugs and apparently just gave up after that), and they tried to sell us the Senran Kagura costumes at a higher price than the console versions even though the whole clothing destruction feature doesn’t exist on PC. Yes, literally paying more for less content.

I wonder how much of this new stuff PC will be getting, and how badly mangled it’ll be.

You know, this game wouldn’t be so fucking dead on PC if they bothered to implement multiplayer. But the lack of multiplayer has totally killed it, though the ridiculously priced cosmetic DLC didn’t help either, and now here’s just more. Thanks for fucking nothing, AGAIN, Koei.

    > removes online multiplayer from DW8XL and DW8E ports

    > $50 for shoddy, buggy PS3 port of DW8E with barely any graphics options

    > fucks up Toukiden Kiwami in every way imaginable

    > Nobunaga’s Ambition series WITH NO ENGLISH TRANSLATION, ON THE US STEAM STORE

    > Uncharted Waters Online is a shipwreck

SURELY they won’t fuck up One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, right guys?

  • Thurnis’b OndaBeat

Can’t wait for none of this to come to PC.

  • BaronKrause

The PC version remains out of the gutter 100% on the backs of the people who have made Nude mods for it (Lets be honest, that’s why everyone wanted a PC version).

Thankfully that also means it really doesn’t matter what botched overpriced missing feature garbage DLC they offer.

  • Jack Ripper

But that’s the thing. It’s NOT only cosmetics.

Marie was PAID DLC character. Nyotengu was PAID DLC character. Phase 4 was PAID DLC character. And this was after the whole interview from Hayashi about how having DLC characters as paid character is unfair for fighters and whatnot commentary.

Cosmetics itself is one thing, locking characters is part limiting the gameplay. And don’t even get me started on playable stages being limited to next gen ONLY. DOA a is fighting game that revolves around stage dynamics as opposed to other fighting games and locking new stages to only current gen systems while giving the same game with gimped content for last gen systems is a dick move no matter what.

If their stance on PC gaming is anything to by, the whole company is crooked and run by a bunch of fucking morons.

  • Jack Ripper

It’s dead on consoles too. Dividing this game within 4 fucking consoles + PC with no crossplay is not a good plan especially with a already weak online community and shit connection.

  • sanic

Yeah I saw the second season pass on the psn for $93 bucks, wonder who has the disposable income to afford such items.

  • Xelioncito

How is PC port of DW8E buggy? Played for 37 hours, 0 crashes, 0 bugs, 0 problems. Last week we got the final patch too.
Graphics options are the same as in DW8XL and every prior port from KOEI (including SW2 and Warriors Orochi, for example). Also, it’s a PS3 port as you said, that’s why it looks like a PS3 game and doesn’t have any graphical enhancement appart from less pop-in (though it’s still pretty bad), higher resolutions and more stable fps.

Nobunaga’s Ambition is getting an English localisation on September. I don’t see the problem if a game in foreign language is in the US store. I mean, Steam tells you what language the game is in….

You can complain about online, maybe Toukiden (didn’t buy it yet), but the other stuff? wtf man… stop throwing shit at everything without even knowing.

  • tccboss

I’ll buy the new character but I’ll wait for a sale on dlc.

  • MasterJ360

I think the real reason the DLC’s are so overpriced to PC b/c they are aware of them being cracked to download for free. Mods have a part of this too, but honestly they had this coming. They thought they could tame the internet by telling us not to mod their sexual teasing game. It was the biggest mistake they could possibly make. So now they have to pay their employees to purge any video with mods in gameplays. Should have just stick to PS4 and Xbox One, but thanks to a PC port I can enjoy my nude mods lol
