The video game sales (via NPD) for the month of April 2015 in the United States have come in.

Video game consumers have spent roughly $595.7 million on software and hardware in April 2015, a figure that is up three percent from $579.5 million spent during the same time last year.

Hardware sales were at $183.9 million, a figure that is down four percent from the $191.9 million generated during the same time last year. Software sales raked in $256.7 million, a figure up 13 percent from the $227.6 million spent during the same time last year.

As for the big three, Microsoft’s Xbox One came out on top, becoming the best-selling console in the United States for the month of April. While we don’t have exact numbers, we do know sales grew by 63%, meaning we can pinpoint sales at 187,000 units in April 2015 up from 115,000 units in April 2014.

Sony, on the other hand, pointed out software sales leading the charge in April 2015. “We would like to thank fans around the world for their continued support of the PS4,” a Sony spokesperson said to VentureBeat. “According to NPD, PlayStation continues to lead software sales for April 2015 and PS4 remains the cumulative sales leader in the US. We are looking forward to an amazing E3.”

Finally, Wii U sales were up 15% when compared to the first four months of 2014. 3DS sales were up 65% over the same time last year.

Which of the above consoles do you own? Do you feel the software offerings for 2015 have been good so far?
