Lifeless Planet Rambling Onto the Xbox One

Lifeless Planet was an early Kickstarter success story, reaching its funding goal in 2012. It launched last year, receiving average reviews across the board. Not to be deterred by their game’s moderate reception, Stage 2 studios has slated the game for a May 13th Xbox One release.

As you can see in the trailer above, Lifeless Planet is a puzzle platformer, with an emphasis on story. The game follows a scientist on a failed mission to another planet.

With his crew lost and his ship destroyed, he finds out that the world he came to is a barren wasteland, devoid of life. However, he manages to locate the ruins of a Soviet Union science outpost, and the rest of the game is spent discovering how and why they traveled to this planet.

It’s good to see more games coming to the Xbox One, but will releasing it on a new platform do anything to help its mediocre review scores? I suppose time will tell.
