Defend Earth from Space Invaders in 1950s’ Fortified

Fortified is a new title by Clapfoot Games that wraps shooting, real-time strategy, and base defense mechanics in a 1950s retro aesthetic.

In Fortified, you and up to three other players work as a team to build defensive structures, engage in third-person firefights, and (in what developer Clapfoot claims is a first for the genre) train and direct units on the battlefield. You do this all in order to protect your base from unrelenting waves of robots and flying saucers.

The up-to-four-player co-op has four classes from which to choose, each class based on a pulp genre archetype, from a rocketeer to a secret government agent. Fortified, Clapfoot hopes, will require “proper strategy and role fulfillment on the battlefield.”

The lo-fi sci-fi title is being developed for PC and Xbox One. Its release date is yet to be announced.
