Netherrealm Studios held another official livestream recently, in which they gave us a look at how Mortal Kombat X‘s story mode will play, the motion capture used for the cinematic sequences, and showed off Johnny Cage’s variations. You can watch that video above at the indicated times.

Johnny Cage has the following variations in MKX:

  • Fisticuffs—Cage becomes more powerful the lower his health is, and has knucklebusters he can activate that do greater chip damage, which is great for aggressive playstyles.
  • Stunt Double—this variation removes the flipkick available to him in other variations, but gives Johnny the ability to create a body double that can execute moves for him, which is great for racking up combos.
  • A-List—Johnny is able to power up his moves, and can throw his fireballs in a straight line, which makes this variation perfect for feinting.

Those of you who have been worried about the lack of Johnny’s patented nutcracker needn’t have been, because we get to see it in action plenty of times throughout the match-ups. At the end of the stream, the developers stated that some characters will be unlocked through story mode—although which characters exactly, they wouldn’t reveal.

In case you missed it, Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees has been confirmed as a DLC fighter for the game.

Mortal Kombat X will be available on April 14 for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 ports of the game have been delayed.
