Mind Blowing 1080p, 60FPS Shenmue Tribute Looks Like an HD Remaster

I was contacted by Massimo Crulli, a fan of Niche Gamer, who runs a YouTube channel named Dreamcaster’s Tube.

While most of his video uploads are HD recordings of various Sega Dreamcast games’ intro videos, cutscenes, and so on – his recent upload (featured above) with Shenmue Memories Tribute Music Video is almost overwhelming for this Shenmue fan.

If you press play (CONTAINS SPOILERS) you’ll be treated with a whopping nine minute long video that makes both Shenmue and Shenmue II look like they’re running in HD. If you’re watching in Google Chrome, you can even view it in a full 1080p and 60FPS.

The methodology behind this remastering is actually a “custom post-processing,” according to Crulli. So while this isn’t technically playable in this gorgeous form, it sure does make you wonder if an HD remaster is possible at all.

“This won’t surely move Sega in making a new game but giving fans a glimpse of happiness and hope is always a good thing,” Crulli said in an email to Niche Gamer. It’s worth mentioning that Crulli is not monetizing his videos, he simply adores Shenmue, and the Sega Dreamcast.

While an HD remake or a final conclusion to the saga isn’t on its way just yet, fans are working on an HD remake of sorts – let’s hope Sega doesn’t shut it down?
