Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive have revealed a brand new RTS game adaptation for Games Workshop’s classic boardgame dubbed Battlefleet Gothic: Armada.

Instead of having you control hordes of Orks and Space Marines on the ground level, you’ll be the commander of entire fleets of spacecraft, whether it be the Imperial Navy or the Black Crusade.

The game is built within Unreal Engine 4, and it lets you assemble and completely customize your navy as you seek to conquer the entire Gothic sector of space. All of the ships defense, support systems, and weapons can be manipulated to your liking.

The crew members are even able to level up and gain experience through battle. So far the playable races confirmed are the Chaos, Eldar, Ork, and the Humans.

As for the developer –  Tindalos Interactive, they’re a recently opened developer formed back in 2010. They developed the space RTS  Stellar Impact, as well as another strategy game, Etherium.

Further details, like a release date are unconfirmed. It’s certainly a wonderful time to be a Warhammer 40K fan, with this and Total War: Warhammer being leaked.

    O_O Woah! YES!

Focus Home is really on a roll here. Wouldn’t surprise me if they had licensed Necromunda, Inquisitor and Gorkamorka as well, after seeing them release Blood Bowl, Mortheim and working on Space Hulk: Deathwing and now this.

    Fucking awesome!

I predict more WH40K games in the future.nThe rise of popularity in 3D printing will enable ‘pirating’ of WH40K figurines, causing Games Workshop to lose lotta money, so they’ll have to expand their business into videogames since there is already a WH40K videogame fanbase. (Or maybe GW will make movies?)

As someone who is friends to a huge Warhammer fan:nIt’s *a* black Crusade (the twelfth, iirc), not *the* Black Crusade.

    Oh

Makes sense. Since the rest aren’t too competitive fluffwise.nNecron are far too strong. Tyranid bioships are fairly weak but there is a helluwa lot of them and the tau have really bad space assets as well.

  • CyberEagle

Also, doesn’t a true Hive Fleet have a full “That’s no Moon” at its core, while other fleets are usually led by something “only” a few km long?

  • Junk

Norn queen? For the splinter fleets? Honestly not sure right now. But you’d never get to play a full hivefleet ever. Even a full splinter fleet would be pushing it. nnnYou’re looking of armies of roughly 10-15 ships not counting escorts, which operate in squads. (Admitteeddly wwh40k escorts are the size of capital ships from other settings)

Thids would imply Games Workshop has business sense…

  • Fenrir007

Hm, nice. So we get to play as the armless failure? nnRegardless, the more 40k games, the better. I expect them to land in a Mass Effect type of game soon enough where we get to play an Inquisitor searching for heresy in all the wrong places. Or a squad command game where you play a Commissair, dedicated BLAM button and all.

  • Punished Nick #4831

“Inquisitor, I can assure you there is no Heresy here.”n>HERESY! *murder*n>HERESY! *murder*n>HERESY! *murder*n>[Paragon]HERESY! *murder*n>[Renegade]HERESY! *murder*

  • Fenrir007

The ending will be Exterminatus colored.

    Bububut… the 13th Black Cruuuuuuuuuuusade…

I, for one, welcome any RTS games from any developer in this day and age. And this being 40k, I am really looking forward to this. (Even though it’s not the usual Spehs Muhreens bit.)

  • Fenrir007

    Muh eternal stalemate!
