The Franchise is Alive – RollerCoaster Tycoon World is Revealed

Earlier this morning we reported on Microsoft and Frontier Development confirming their own foray into the theme park simulator genre, with a game dubbed simply ScreamRide.

It looks like this may have prompted Atari to show their hand early, and we’ve gotten word of a totally new RollerCoaster Tycoon Game, which is boldly called RollerCoaster Tycoon World. The PC game is following the previously released (and fan-angering) mobile game.

Featured above, you can view a very short teaser trailer that doesn’t really show much other than hype, and a release window of early next year.

Atari CEO Fred Chesnais had this to say in a press release:

“Many of the new features in RollerCoaster Tycoon World were not possible a few years ago, but we have taken advantage of technological improvements to offer a wildly fun gaming experience that stays true to the storied franchise.”

The game is set to bring all of the series’ previously seen attractions like rides, shops, patrons, and the mega-sized roller coasters. Maintenance and overall customer satisfaction will be key to winning yet again, although now you’ll be able to play alongside four other players to build your own dream amusement park.

Coming from this, once your park is up and running, you can have your park visited by other players, and you can even share the blueprints for your custom tailored roller coasters online. Pipeworks is aiming to make this the most ambitious RollerCoaster Tycoon game of all time.

Oh and the best part? The game is just like the old experiences, meaning that you buy the end product and there are no hidden microtransactions.
