XSEED Isn’t Localizing Games like Senran Kagura Purely for the Fanservice

XSEED Games have literally carved out their own niche within a niche of sorts, as most of their latest, more notable releases have been games featuring fanservice of some kind. If you dunno what fanservice is, I’d like to question how you got to our website, and why you’re reading this. All jokes aside, games with frequent flopping of breasts, exposing of skin and buttocks, tend to go hand in hand with XSEED Games as of late.

When asked by a fan on their Facebook page if the company was looking to potentially localize other “fanservice” filled games, a representative from XSEED replied with:

“None. Senran Kagura is special because it’s by our parent company and made by a most excellent producer.”

Things got really interesting when XSEED localization specialist Tom Lipschultz sounded off in an article by Siliconera, clarifying their stance:

“The idea behind that response, I believe, is that we’re not going to be pursuing any titles based solely on the existence of “naughty” fanservice within them. But that’s not new: even Senran Kagura is a series we were thrilled to work on because it has great gameplay, well-developed characters and a fairly deep mythos behind it. In short, the Senran Kagura titles are fantastic games. The fanservice within them is just icing on the cake. ;)

In short, that quote doesn’t mean we’re never going to release another game containing fanservice again. Really, it just means we don’t plan on pursuing games for their fanservice content alone — and that’s always been the case.”

So rest easy, fans of both hometown and life, and maybe even Senran Kagura – XSEED is most definitely going to localize more games with fanservice, just not purely for the sake of the fanservice.

This is, at least what they’re saying publicly, probably to appease all the naysayers who’d rather see spines being ripped out or bad dudes get shot in the face, but I digress.
