I dunno what it is about companies that develop shiny, new bodies for old school systems – but it gets me way too excited. Analogue Interactive is one of those companies, their previous outings saw walnut and ash clad Neo Geo systems as well as Analogue Neo Geo arcade sticks.

Their latest take on sleek versions of old game consoles is the Analogue Nt, a beautifully crafted piece that is built from a single block of 6061 aluminum alloy. Inside of its seemingly current generation shell lies the same CPU and logic board that you would find within the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Famicom.

The Nt plays both NES and Famicom game cartridges and it also plays with all original NES and Famicom add-ons including zappers, original controllers, and even the Famicom 3D system.

Chris Taber, Analogue’s owner, pointed out that the Analogue Nt is an RGB NES, meaning “it outputs literally the highest quality analog video signals possible. This translates to perfect compatibility with modern TVs while retaining compatibility with old school CRTs, and high quality monitors.”

Before you start readying your credit cards and or wads of cash, the Analogue Nt comes with a hefty price tag at $500 dollars. However, if you consider the fact that the additional $50 HDMI adapter that lets you convert your oldies into crisp, gorgeous HD visuals, it might be worth it.

You can preorder the Analogue Nt here.
