This Game is Like a Forced Perspective Version of Portal

forced perspective pillow castle games

Pillow Castle Games are a team of indies based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, talent stemming from Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center.

They’re working on a new game prototype that is definitely something special. I won’t spoil the awesomeness of it, but the core gameplay is based around forced perspective:

The current build of the game is set in “The Museum of Simulation Technology,” and it’s more of a proof of concept rather than an example of what the finished game will be like. All of the footage is unedited and is straight from the game.

I think my favorite bit was when the player picked up the exit door, dragged it out far above them to make it larger, only to drop it on themselves so they could just wait for the end of the level to reach them. The implications of these mechanics are wonderful – I can’t wait to see more.
