Revealed in this week’s Famitsu, Sega is working on a new Initial D game for the 3DS, titled Initial D: Perfect Shift Online.

Here’s the hilarious irony behind this game – you don’t actually drive cars in the game. Instead, cars move on their own and you have to shift up and down at the precise moment to win, sort of like a rhythm game.

Naturally, you can expect characters and vehicles from the Initial D series to appear in the game.

A closed beta is scheduled for January, followed by the full launch in spring 2014 in Japan.
