Sony’s John Koller: “PS4 launch reminds me a lot of the PS2 launch”

Pictured above is Jack Tretton and Andrew House, both standing around the first retail Playstation 4 owner in the world, Joey Chiu. The Playstation 4 launch has so far been incredible, with Sony selling over a million units within 24 hours and all.

Now we have some more feedback from some other Sony bosses, namely John Koller, Sony’s VP of marketing, who was reminiscing about previous hardware launches while he was there in New York City for the Playstation 4 launch. In an interview with gameindustry.biz, he had this to say:

“The pre-orders are through the roof. The demand is huge. Of the five platform launches we’ve had, this is the best game line up. It reminds me a lot of the PS2 launch, when we had such pent-up demand – ‘When is the PS2 coming?’ The same thing is happening here.”

Fascinating stuff, it could very well be possible that the Playstation 4 could be Sony’s chance to reclaim their throne as the king of home consoles, but only time will tell. The Xbox One is launching this week, so we’ll see how things fare in Microsoft’s camp.
