Housemarque has revealed their new game for Playstation 4, it’s exclusive and all kinds of badass looking.

Titled RESOGUN, the game is a 2D side-scrolling shmup that is being called a “spiritual successor” to their amazing Super Stardust remake.

The game is not all about just destroying everything on the screen, you also have to rescue small guys trapped by the invading alien swarm.

Freeing these hostages will release power ups and shields – this adds a lot of strategy to the game. The game world progression is described as “cylindrical” and is closer to old school 2D shooters. Also, everything in the game has gravity now, so expect physics based encounters.

The game is not a twin stick shooter, as it’s a traditional 2D side-scroller and they felt it clashed with the game’s overall feel.

The game is confirmed as a launch line up and a freebie for Playstation Plus subscribers alongside Driveclub.
